Libraries
One of the best ways to support independent authors is to buy their books. But if you are a cheapskate, like E.J. LeRoy, you can still support independent authors by asking your local public librarian to purchase books you want to read. Most public library websites have an electronic purchase request form available for patrons. Use it. Without patron requests, public librarians may not realize an independently published book is in demand, or that it even exists. By requesting books at public libraries, you help indie authors gain visibility and credibility. You also get to read the book without buying it. And since public libraries are funded with taxpayer dollars, asking librarians to buy books you want to read is kind of like getting a small rebate. How cool is that? Here's another bonus: Once a book is cataloged in one library system, it often becomes available to patrons in other library systems throughout the state or country via "Interlibrary Loan." This is an amazing service for library patrons. Ask your local librarian for more information.
